Walmart joins BBB Institute’s Corporate Trust Council
The BBB Institute for Marketplace Trust (BBB Institute) is pleased to announce that Walmart has officially joined BBB Institute’s Corporate Trust Council, a coalition of companies that commit to working with BBB Institute and other coalition members to build trust in the marketplace through shared expertise, resources, and strategic initiatives.
As a new Council member, Walmart will support BBB Institute’s efforts to educate and protect consumers. This collaboration will include funding for BBB Institute programs, including a consumer education campaign that aims to empower people to shop safely during this upcoming holiday season.
Claire Rushton, Walmart’s Senior Director of Global Security Aviation and Investigations, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the partnership: “Walmart is thrilled to join the BBB Institute’s Corporate Trust Council. We applaud the BBB Institute for convening these key stakeholders and fostering action. Sharing ideas, information, and resources is the best way for all of us to protect consumers in the marketplace.”
Other Corporate Trust Council members include Amazon, Capital One, PayPal, and Zelle®. Together, these partners are dedicated to developing best practices, identifying emerging threats, and delivering educational resources that help consumers navigate the marketplace safely.
Melissa Lanning, Executive Director of the BBB Institute, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “Corporate Trust Council members share BBB Institute’s passion for building a network of better businesses and helping people avoid scams through education. By working together with Council members and our network of BBBs serving communities across the United States and Canada, we are able to make an even bigger impact. We are thrilled to add Walmart to the Corporate Trust Council.”
BBB Institute has a track record of impactful initiatives developed in partnership with its Corporate Trust Council members. These include the BBB Scam Survival Toolkit, launched with support from Amazon and Capital One in May 2024, and the BBB Scam Prevention Guide, which equips consumers with the knowledge needed to spot and avoid scams.
