Welcome Mayra Garcia-Lopez to the BBB Institute team!

Meet Mayra Garcia Lopez – Grant Administrator

BBB Institute is pleased to welcome Mayra Garcia Lopez as our Grant Administrator. Based in El Paso, Mayra oversees the Institute’s grant processes, supporting our mission to advance marketplace trust through impactful funding and programs. 

Mayra brings over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, marketing, and grant development. She has a strong track record of securing funding and developing initiatives that drive meaningful community impact. Prior to joining the Institute, she was Grants & Community Impact Manager at FirstLight Federal Credit Union, supporting the FirstLight Community Foundation’s work in the Borderplex region. 

Her previous roles include Marketing Manager for Junior Achievement and Marketing and Grants Director at the YMCA of El Paso. Additionally, Mayra has taught undergraduate and graduate business courses at the University of Phoenix. 

She holds an MBA and a BA in Communication/Organizational Communications & Public Relations from the University of Texas at El Paso. An active community advocate, Mayra contributes her time and expertise to Moms on Board, a nonprofit focused on  family-friendly policy initiatives, and is a member of the Mt. Franklin Kiwanis Club. 

Fun fact: Mayra recently took up softball—she’s still learning the ropes, but says it’s been a lot of fun!
